Memahami Fungsi Alat-alat Laboratorium

Micropipette function and the parts contained therein

The Micropipette function actually has the same function as the regular pipette. The function of this micropipette is to move the solution or liquid in one place to another. The usual pipette is basically used at the smallest volume of 1 mili liter, while the micropipette is usually used on the volume below 1 mili liter.

History of Micropipettes

Micropipettes were first discovered in 1957 by a postdoctoral student, named Heinrich Schnitger at the University of Marburg, Germany. At that time, Heinrich Schnitger was frustrated by repeatedly carrying out small volume fluid transfers using pipettes. Because of this frustration, Heinrich developed a prototype micropipette in the form of a spring, and at the end comes with a plastic tip that is very easy to remove. The function of this tip is to accommodate temporary fluids, which will later be transferred to other glass tools or containers.

Existing micropipettes were developed from prototypes, previously made by Hendrich Schnitger. All you need to know is that the pipette design was patented in 1957. The Micropipette design you meet today looks more elegant, effective and simple. The design is a revolution in handling small volumes of fluid. In addition, the use of micropipettes has been widespread and has been used in various fields, ranging from medicine, biochemistry, molecular, medicine, and into a device that is already widely used in biological sciences.

Portions of micropipettes and their functions

A micropipette is a tool used to accurately transfer a small amount of a solution. The Micropipette parts and functions are as follows:

Plunger button

This part is moving upwards at the time of removal, and down at the time of being pressed. The function of the plunger button is to measure the quantity of the air that has been withdrawn, then exhalated the liquid volume, and secreted by pipette tip.

Shaft

The shaft function is as a place to attach the ejector arm handle, which then connects between the Micropipette and the plastic tip.

Volume Adjustment Knob

For this section, you will adjust the liquid volume to be transferred.

Plastic Tip

The function is to hold the liquid when the process of withdrawal of liquid volume until it is transferred. The small will be adjusted to the volume of the liquid transferred and Micropipetnya capacity.

Ejector arm

This section serves to push the plastic tip so that it is detached from the micropipette.

TIP ejector button

Function to release or “eject” the plastic tip when finished use or as a replacement tip.
